A Home That Speaks Dachshund

Thirty years of long dogs, and counting.

The Long Dog Co. started with a lifetime of dachshunds. I know the burrowing, the stubbornness, the food opinions, and the backs that need looking after. It’s where North Georgia and Atlanta doxie families board with someone who truly gets the breed, and it’s growing into a place to find more than boarding.

Why doxie people trust me

Run by a dachshund person, for dachshund people.

A true doxie person

I grew up with dachshunds and have rarely been without one since. I know how a doxie thinks, sulks, burrows under the blanket, and tells you exactly what they want for dinner.

A back-safe home

Ramps to every couch and bed, no risky jumps, and gentle handling built around dachshund backs. The whole house is set up the way a long dog needs it.

Seniors and special care

From puppies to gray muzzles on medication, I go at your dog’s pace: meds on schedule, extra potty breaks, and patience on stiff mornings.

Dachshund questions

A couple of things doxie owners ask.

Do you only take dachshunds?

Dachshunds are my specialty and my first love, but every calm, well-behaved small or medium dog is welcome. The home is set up doxie-friendly, which happens to suit a lot of small breeds.

How do you handle dachshund backs?

Ramps everywhere, no jumping on or off furniture, and careful, supported handling. I watch for any sign of back discomfort and keep things calm, which matters most for the breed.
