Meet the pack.

Some of these long dogs run my house today. Some visit. Some we carry with us. Every one of them has been family, and shaped the way I look after yours.

The pack today

Some run the house. Some come to visit. All of them are family.

Always here, full-time

Susie & Brussel, the welcoming committee.

These two live with me full-time, so they’re the long dogs your pup actually gets to meet — the first wagging tails at the door and the last ones to say goodnight.

Brussel, a long-haired dachshund

Brussel

Dachshund • 5 yrs

Brussel is the one who’s convinced he’s king. His bark is far bigger than his bite, and he’s an avid hunter at heart. Squirrels, chipmunks, and assorted backyard rodents have all met their match. He’s caught his fair share and he’s endlessly proud of every single one.

Susie the dachshund

Susie

Dachshund • 1 yr

Susie is the crazy one, and every pack has one, right? She’s endless fun, completely food-motivated, and never happier than when she’s tearing around the house or play-wrestling the other dogs. Around here she’s the undefeated champ. Another fun fact: she shares the very same dad as both Fig and Brussel.

Family who visit

Elvis, Remy, and Fig live nearby with family and come to stay from time to time. You might meet them, you might not, but once a long dog, always pack.

Elvis, a senior dachshund

Elvis

Dachshund • 16 yrs

Elvis is an old soul through and through. Toys don’t move him and he’s not easily impressed. He’s been there, done that. What he loves is the simple stuff: staying close to his people, a treat he’s decided he’s earned, and a long, unhurried nap. Easygoing, dignified, and the quiet heart of the pack.

Remy the dachshund

Remy

Dachshund • 10 yrs

Remy is a true wild card. He’s wild about his toys and loves to act like he runs the place, but underneath the bravado he’s a pure cuddler. At five he was hit with IVDD, the back trouble every doxie owner dreads, and made a full recovery. Dachshunds are famously resilient, and Remy is living proof.

Fig the dachshund

Fig

Dachshund • 4 yrs

Fig is a total love bug whose whole mission is to be near you. He’s forever burrowing under a blanket and waiting, not so patiently, for his next treat. He’s what we lovingly call a diva. And here’s a fun one: he shares the very same mom and dad as Brussel.

Always in the pack

Once a long dog joins this family, they never really leave it.

The dogs who made me who I am. They were never just pets; they were family, and they always will be. Every guest who stays here is loved a little better because of them.

Griff, a beloved dachshund
In loving memory

Griff

1992 to 2009

The one who started it all. My boyhood shadow and the reason I gave my heart to this breed. Gone nearly twenty years now, and still in every long dog I’ve loved since.

Cash, a beloved dachshund
In loving memory

Cash

2010 to 2026

We lost Cash just this spring, and the house is quieter without him. His spot on the couch will always be his. Still part of this pack, always.

Ava, a beloved dachshund
In loving memory

Ava

2010 to 2026

Our sweet Ava. We said goodbye far sooner than we were ready to, and we’re holding her close. Forever ours, and forever in the pack.
